Your website may need to be updated or may automatically be updated to WordPress 5.5. Here are some of the new features:
- Images are now lazy-loaded by default. What this means is that images aren’t loaded until they are just about to scroll into view. This makes your website load faster!
- Now by default, WordPress will generate a sitemap.xml file to submit to search engines such as Google. Typically those have been generated when you use an SEO Plugin such as Yoast or RankMath. Now that will happen by default so Google will find your new pages faster!
- WordPress has made improvements in the publishing experience. For instance copying links in image files and improvements in the editors.
Most importantly, BACKUP your website before upgrading!
